In your role as a senior insurance defence law clerk, you will play a pivotal role across a spectrum of cases, including Accident Benefits, Tort, Property, Anti-fraud investigations, defence and prosecutions, and Appellate work. Your contributions are integral to our success.
In addition to a great positive attitude and genuine interest in being part of a team, here are some areas of expertise that would make for a great fit:
- Intake, organization and briefing of files;
- Preparing medical indices and summaries;
- Coordinating with investigators and other experts;
- Drafting pleadings, discovery plans and affidavits of documents;
- Pursuing and managing productions and undertakings;
- Assisting with motion materials;
- Preparing costs outlines;
- Drafting settlement documents;
- Assisting with arbitration and trial preparation and conduct;
- Direct communication with various counsel and clients; and
- Daily file management
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience as a Law Clerk handling Accident Benefits and tort insurance defense files;
- Law Clerk Certification or undergraduate degree;
- Proficient with the Rules of Civil Procedure and LAT Rules of Practice;
- Ability to manage large volume of documents and work in a fast paced paperless environment;
- Strong tech skills (Primafact, Ghost Practice, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.);
- Confident ability to manage multiple priorities while being time conscious and deadline oriented; and
- Enjoy being proactive and working in a team
