Insurance Defence Legal Assistant

In your role as an insurance defence Legal Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in across a spectrum of cases, including Accident Benefits, Tort, Property, Anti-fraud investigations, defence and prosecutions, and Appellate work. Your contribution is integral to our success.

In addition to a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to teamwork, here are key areas of expertise that align with our ideal candidate:

  • Scheduling events and proactively managing your lawyers' calendars;
  • Proactively managing multiple tasks, prioritizing and communicating well with all team members, clients and opposing counsel;
  • Communicating with courts and tribunals;
  • Drafting correspondence and appropriate forms;
  • Preparing expense reports and processing disbursement invoices;
  • Preparing invoices to clients as part of monthly billing process; and
  • Managing filing – keeping file up to date & organized.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a legal assistant and 1-2 years of experience in insurance defence;
  • Strong knowledge of court and LAT proceedings and procedures;
  • Strong computer skills and experience with legal and file management software;
  • The ability to manage a large volume of documents (paperless) and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • The ability to prioritize work flow and manage critical details; and
