Insurance Defence Law Clerk

The Role

Join our dynamic legal team as a full-time Litigation Law Clerk and make an immediate impact across a diverse range of insurance related cases, including Accident Benefits, Tort, Property, Anti-fraud investigations, defense and prosecutions, and Appellate work. Key Responsibilities

•Maintain up-to-date case management systems and ensure all deadlines are tracked and met

•Communicate regularly with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression

•Assist with the preparation and review of settlement documentation and mediation briefs

•Conduct legal research and gather supporting documentation as required

•Assist with preparation for case conferences, mediations, examinations for discovery, hearings and trials as needed

•Efficiently manage intake, organization, and briefing of files

•Prepare clear, concise medical indices and case summaries

•Coordinate smoothly with investigators and expert witnesses

•Draft pleadings, discovery plans, and affidavits of documents with accuracy

•Drive the production and management of documents and undertakings

•Support counsel with motion materials and court submissions

Requirements:

•2+ years of experience as a litigation law clerk handling Accident Benefits and tort insurance defense files.

•Law Clerk Certification or undergraduate degree.

•Proficient with the Rules of Civil Procedure and LAT Rules of Practice.

•Ability to manage large volume of documents and work in a fast-paced paperless environment.

•Strong tech skills (Leap, Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).

•Confident ability to manage multiple priorities while being time conscious and deadline oriented; and

•Enjoy being proactive and working in a team.

•Hybrid role with in-office attendance required once per week.
